Model and storage
Newer, higher-storage models generally hold more value, but demand for a specific model in the current market matters too. A two-year-old flagship in high demand can sometimes hold value better than a slightly newer model that never sold well. Storage tier (64GB vs 256GB vs 512GB, for example) is one of the first things we ask for because it changes the baseline value before condition is even considered.
Physical condition
Screen cracks, back glass damage, body dents and scratches all reduce the offer — even if the device still works fine. We grade condition roughly as Excellent, Good, Fair or Damaged (see our condition grading on the iPhone price guide), and each tier reflects a real difference in what the device can resell for afterward. Cosmetic wear that doesn't affect function costs less value than functional damage like a touch-unresponsive screen area.
Battery health
A significantly degraded battery is factored into the offer, since it usually means a near-term replacement cost for the buyer. On iPhone this shows as a percentage under Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging; on Android it's less standardised, but noticeably faster drain or unexpected shutdowns are the practical signs. Telling us the battery health percentage (or that you don't know it) when you WhatsApp us speeds up an accurate estimate.
Lock and account status
A device must be signed out of iCloud/Find My or your Google account before it can be purchased — see our locked phone page. This isn't a negotiable condition factor like a scratch; an active lock means the device legally can't be resold, so it has to be cleared before any final offer is made. If you're not sure how to do this, our blog has step-by-step guides for both iOS and Android.
Original vs third-party parts
A screen or battery that's been replaced with non-original parts typically lowers the offer compared to an all-original device. This is something our inspection checks for directly — non-original displays sometimes show slightly different colour response or touch sensitivity, and we'll explain what we find rather than just quoting a lower number with no reason given.
Accessories included
Original box, charger and cables can modestly improve your offer. It's not required — plenty of devices we buy arrive with nothing but the phone itself — but if you still have the original packaging and accessories lying around, bringing them along is worth the small bump.
How to get an accurate estimate
The fastest way to a real number is to send us the model, storage, battery health (if known) and an honest description of any damage or lock status on WhatsApp. That gets you an estimated quote before you visit — the final offer is confirmed after we physically inspect the device in-store or after it arrives via courier.
